Cloud-Calcolo&Storage

We have an on premise OpenStack cluster, with distributed storage based on Ceph.

The OpenStack@ISTI dashboard is reachable at https://isti-cloud.isti.cnr.it/.

All the pre-authorized ISTI users have access from default to the XXX-lab-cloud project (where lab is the ISTI laboratory user belong to).

Accessing the ISTI-Cloud

• Go to the OpenStack dashboard at ISTI-Cloud
• Log in using the ISTI-CNR Authentication System
• Use your ISTI credentials (username and password)

Setting up a keypair

Keypairs are used to access virtual machines with ssh.

You can set up a keypair in a number of ways:

  *     Project -> Compute -> Key pairs from the left menu
  *     Select the Import public key button (where you can use your ssh key saved on ipa.isti.cnr.it)

Or

  *     Project -> Compute -> Key pairs from the left menu
  *     Select the Create a Key Pair button

Creating a virtual machine

Once your key is defined, you can now proceed with creating a virtual machine (see Virtual_Machines_Management_using_the_dashboard) The boot process can be followed on the instances screen. Once the VM is in state ACTIVEand the console shows the login prompt, your VM is ready for use and you can log in with ssh.
